Essay

In my essay I will be telling you about the “reel” and real. The term real, as you probably know, means that it is a fact. The term reel means that it’s not real but made for entertainment purposes. The term originated from the movie reel, as it is made for entertainment purposes. The reel started in New York 1970 and was tackling subjects like police brutality, which affected the black community. This soon became popular with in the white community. Small record companies took in the rappers and later in got bought by bigger record companies. In white suburbia they liked the music but didn’t deal with police brutality, so they couldn’t relate to the music. The music companies wanted to change the music so they could sell more records. They changed the music to make it more hyper violent, and all consumers admitted that they liked the music and even more records got sold. The music then becomes the normal and rappers are scared of doing anything else, because they fell like that they wont earn any money. Soon the becomes so popular that people now have no interest in the police brutality, and hyper violent rap becomes the base for all rap. Because of this the record label companies are afraid to let the rappers change the type of music so they tell them that they wont sign them unless they stick to rap music.

Mos Def paragraph

One mc, called Mos Def, criticised the reel in his song called Mathematics. On line said ” I got like 16 to 32 bars to rock it but only 15percent of profits ever see my pokets” by saying this he is saying that the most that rap about money don’t really have that much money.

Hip hop and sampling

—Hip hop is “recycled” music—Blues start then jazz then soul—All hip hop started from soul—                                                        ——————————————————————I think it will be about a girl they like.            The first one is more like a conversation and it sets up the song.

Indecisive.                                                          Upbeat.                                                              Old school.                                                      ——————————————————————

He may have taken a sample of the song because he may have been a role model to him.                                                       ———————————————————

Even though the style of hip hop is different, it follows the tradition of black music. They want to keep the origin of hip hop the same so they can prove that they are capable of doing what other people can do.

Mos Def

Number 2 because it looks like the man and his son have nowhere to go.                 ——————————————————————-  “People was tussling, bustling and hustling”

“Like city lights stay throbbing”

“Thirsty criminals take pockets”                   ——————————————————————-Mos Def represent the inner city as a place where no one will help you as he says “Can’t tell between the cops and the robbers, they both partners, they all heartless”

agree:

i agree that a religious upbringing brain-washes people. people tell their children that their religion is the only right religion with absolutely no regard for other religions. Most parents don’t teach there children about other religions. By this keeps children from knowing about other religions. Some parents show children the goods of other religions but they will always show the bad said to show that their religion is better. By teaching their children this at a young age they will grow up to believe that this is the only good religion. If the adult keeps teaching their child like this it will stop the child from opening up about other religions. Not only that but in an extreme case the child would start to contradict what other people believe and try to persuade them into their religion. This could cause anti social behavior and stop them from interacting with people from a different religion. In conclusion I think that a religious upbringing does not deliberately brain wash people but it is a type of brain washing and strongly influences their decision on what religion to believe.

The court scene

  1. I don’t think that Shylock will have a fair trial because the Duke is being friendly to Antonio , and that the law is out of his hands.
  2. Umbias/impartial.  Fair   understanding
  3.  Shylock is said to be incapable of emotions
  4. From what we know we can tell that the judge is bias   because he hates the Jews,  he is on the side of the christian  and is trying his best to free Antonio. The judge calls Shylock incapable of pity and showing no emotion even though he is simply holding his end of the bargain.  Then he calls him an inhuman wretch, this is to show he has no feelings and is two faced. He then calls him a stony adversary. Saying Shylock is a cold heartless animal. Finishing, he said that he is void and empty from any dram of mercy. This is showing that Shylock is evil, soulless and will stop at nothing to get his revenge.
